Michiel Segeren

Sport Fleet Captain

USCG 100-ton Master (near coastal with sailing endorsement)
BS Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Mike Segeren sails as relief captain in Miami for the Sport Fleet. When he is not taking the helm of yachts, Mike is at the controls of a Boeing 777 as a pilot for United Airlines. He has previously flown a host of different aircraft, and he was first drawn to Fleet Miami due to its diverse fleet of boats. Always up for a challenge, Capt. Mike "likes that Fleet Miami is always doing unique trips, using multiple boats and crews", and he enjoys the fact that he "is always learning."

Capt. Mike's experience working aboard a commercial scuba diving vessel first brought him to yachting. In addition to working for Fleet Miami, Mike spends time on the water volunteering on a 60' sailing catamaran that is fully accessible for people with disabilities, as well as working with Shake-a-Leg Miami, an organization devoted to facilitating waterfront activities for children and adults of all abilities.

Mike "just can't get enough of the water" and spends his free time scuba diving, paddle boarding, traveling, and spending time with his wife and dogs. Most of his family's vacations are spent on a boat, and he counts the BVI and Biscayne Bay some of his favorite places to set sail.

Fleet Miami benefits greatly from Capt. Mike's professionalism and positive attitude, and he looks forward to sharing his love of the water and extensive local cruising knowledge with guests.
