Fleet Miami partners with The ISS DISCOVERY YACHTS program and adds scientific learning expeditions to Motor Yacht Usher’s itineraries.
Jul 22, 2015
Fleet Miami announces today that it has partnered with The International SeaKeepers Society to promote a Fleet Miami/ SeaKeepers Experience.
The first Experience will be offered in conjunction with a charter aboard Fleet Miami’s 154ft M/Y Usher beginning the week of August 15th in the Bahamas. The charter and SeaKeepers Experience will be offered at a discounted weekly rate of $175,000 for Usher (plus APA).
As part of the Fleet Miami/SeaKeepers Experience, guests who book a charter aboard Usher will have the opportunity to be joined by marine research scientists and participate in ocean research and conservation expeditions. The researchers will stay aboard Fleet Miami’s DISCOVERY YACHT Shredder, a 54’ East Bay.
The first SeaKeepers Learning Expedition will be a fully immersive shark educational and research workshop experience. By pairing educational presentations with fieldwork, participants will receive a well-rounded shark experience and contribute to real life research. Over four days, participants will enjoy interactive presentations learning about sharks and their plight, how to identify species of sharks common to Bahamian waters, and learn about current research projects going on at the Save Our Seas Shark Research Center and Guy Harvey Research Institute. Participants will also enjoy three to four reef snorkeling trips. The participants will be paired together and tasked with photographing all sharks seen and recording the species, sex and size estimates. We suggest an age minimum of 16 to participate in the snorkel trips. All ages are welcome for the educational presentations.
“We are proud to announce our support of and partnership with such an influential and active organization as The International SeaKeepers Society,” said Glen Allen, Fleet Miami’s Fleet Captain. “Now, each Fleet Miami charter that incorporates a SeaKeepers Learning Expedition will not only be memorable and educational for each charter guest, but will lend a positive impact on overall ocean conservancy efforts.”
The first SeaKeepers Learning Expedition charter experience will be available for the week commencing August 15, 2015.
